Businesses throughout the economy reporting revenue growth

All 13 industries monitored by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) have recorded year-on-year increases in their turnover, according to the latest data.

After analysing business activity statements, the ABS found turnover increased by:

  • Accommodation & food services2% in the year to January
  • Mining3%
  • Administrative & support services8%
  • Arts & recreation services3%
  • Transport, postal & warehousing1%
  • Manufacturing9%
  • Other services2%
  • Construction2%
  • Retail trade5%
  • Professional, scientific & technical services8%
  • Information media & telecommunications8%
  • Electricity, gas, water & waste services1%
  • Wholesale trade0%

The latest ABS jobs data was also encouraging, with the unemployment rate falling from 3.7% to 3.5% between January and February, and the number of people in work increasing by a net 48,100.
