Corey Lyons has experienced leadership in its many forms. From his early days in professional sport to his current role in the corporate world, he has drawn inspiration from those around him and shaped his own approach through lived experience, trial and reflection.
Throughout his football career, Corey was fortunate to be coached by some of the game’s most respected leaders, including AFL premiership coaches Luke Beveridge and Chris Fagan, and SANFL coach Darren Reeves. Each brought a unique style, but they all shared one powerful trait: The ability to build meaningful relationships. This consistent value left a lasting impression on Corey. It’s something he carries with him, both on the field and in the workplace.
As Corey transitioned out of professional sport, he faced a new challenge: finding his place in an entirely different environment. The move wasn’t easy, but the team at Finestream quickly became like a second family. He credits Liz and Matt for their ongoing support during that period, helping him build confidence in his new role and reinforcing the importance of being part of a workplace that values trust, collaboration and fun.
Leadership for Corey is also about giving back. He works closely with a young athlete coming through the junior football ranks, meeting with him every fortnight to focus on mindset, skills and growth. Seeing the young player grow in both confidence and character has become one of the most rewarding parts of Corey’s week.
Corey believes in bringing the best out of himself and creating a platform for those around him to do the same. His leadership continues to evolve, grounded in genuine relationships, a team-first mentality and a drive to keep learning.
