A Day in Alex’s Life at Finestream

When people ask me what I do at Finestream, I usually say something simple like “I help get loans over the line.” But the truth is, no two days are the same. Behind every approval is a lot of teamwork, precision, and client care.

I work closely with our mortgage broker, Liz, supporting her behind the scenes to make the process seamless for our clients. Whether you’re a first home buyer, refinancing, or investing in property, there’s a lot that happens between the initial discussion and the moment your loan settles. That’s where I come in.

Mornings Start with Client Reviews

Each day begins with reviewing our client files. I look at their borrowing capacity, assess their documentation, and confirm maximum loan amounts. This gives us a clear picture of what options are available and helps Liz provide tailored advice based on real figures.

And of course, the day doesn’t start until I’ve had my morning coffee, Capuchino always!

Midday Means Applications and Approvals

Once a client is ready to proceed, I prepare and submit their loan application to the selected lender. Accuracy is everything at this stage. Each lender has its own process, and getting the details right from the beginning helps avoid delays and keeps everything on track.

Afternoons Are for Settlements and Support

The lead-up to settlement is usually a busy time. I coordinate with lenders, conveyancers, and clients to ensure everything is in place and ready to go. Once the loan settles, I’m often the first point of contact for any post-settlement queries. This could be helping clients set up internet banking, checking repayment schedules, or arranging offset accounts.

Lunch usually happens quickly between calls. Go-to lunch is a beef snitty from the Cremorne, and yes, my afternoon coffee is non-negotiable.

I enjoy the pace, the variety, and the satisfaction that comes from helping clients achieve significant milestones. Whether it’s buying their first home or restructuring their loan to better suit their needs, it’s rewarding to know I’ve played a part in the journey.
