People often think accounting is all numbers, spreadsheets, and tax deadlines, and yes, there is plenty of that. But for me, what sits beneath the surface is just as important as what’s on the page. My personal faith and values are the quiet drivers behind the way I work, the relationships I build, and the care I take in helping clients understand and manage their financial lives.
My Christian faith influences every part of my life, including how I approach accounting. It guides the way I support clients through complex financial matters and ensures that I remain ethical, thorough, and respectful. I see accounting not just as a technical job, but as a responsibility to help others navigate important decisions. I aim to provide sound, honest advice that puts people in the best position to make informed choices.
When work gets busy, I remind myself that my identity is not tied to output or productivity. This perspective helps me step back, take a breath, and focus on what matters most. I set aside time for rest, time with family, and time within my church community. These moments help me reset and stay motivated throughout the week.
My wife Elise and I attend St Barts in Norwood, just off Beulah Road. It has been our church for many years, and both of our fathers have preached there at different times. We’re involved in a few volunteer roles, such as bible reading, welcoming, tech support, and leading prayers. We also participate in regular small groups, share community meals, and help with local outreach events. This involvement keeps us connected to people and purpose outside of work.
When I need to recharge, I spend time with family. We live close to our parents and siblings, so regular dinners and spontaneous cuppas are a normal part of life. I also enjoy reading, puzzles, and playing games with Elise. These routines help me stay relaxed and keep things in perspective.
I want every client to walk away with clarity and confidence. Understanding your financial position is key to making wise decisions for your future. I see my role as more than just compliance work. It is about building trust and giving people the tools and advice they need to succeed. My goal is for clients to feel supported and informed every step of the way.
“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
This verse reminds me that all work, no matter how routine, has value when it is done with care and purpose. I try to bring that mindset into my role each day, working with diligence and integrity for the benefit of those I serve.
