The 2025 Ford Ranger Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) is here and it’s shaping up to be a game-changer for tradies, business owners and adventure-seekers alike.
With rising fuel costs and an increasing demand for greener workhorses, Ford’s decision to electrify Australia’s best-selling ute makes a lot of sense. And the Ranger PHEV doesn’t just tick the eco box it delivers serious power and practicality, too.
The Ranger PHEV pairs Ford’s 2.3-litre turbo petrol engine with an electric motor and 11.8kWh lithium-ion battery. Combined, the hybrid powertrain produces more torque than any other Ranger variant a massive 650Nm. That means no compromises when it comes to towing (3,500kg braked) or off-road capability.
It also offers up to 45km of pure electric driving range, perfect for local runs or job sites without chewing through petrol.
Ford clearly had small business owners in mind. Here’s what we’re excited about:
Pro Power Onboard: You can run power tools or charge equipment directly from the vehicle, thanks to the built-in AC outlets.
Lower running costs: With electric-only driving and fewer moving parts, you’re likely to save on fuel and maintenance over time.
Fleet appeal: Businesses looking to reduce emissions (or impress clients) now have a genuine hybrid option without sacrificing performance.
The Ranger PHEV is set to land in Australian showrooms in mid 2025 and will be available in XLT, Sport, and Wildtrak trims. Ford is also offering a five-year warranty and an eight-year battery warranty, adding extra peace of mind.
